1. Public speaking. Over the past four years, Dori has honed her skills in public speaking in many different venues, including book clubs, associations, retirement communities, and schools. She enjoys sharing insights gained from her books and her research. If you would like to book her as a speaker, please check out "Speaking" tab above.
2. Coaching about self-publishing. Dori has coached several other authors through the process of self-publishing and is familiar with what it takes to publish in both print-on-demand paperbacks and e-books. In her own work, she has created books through Amazon's Createspace as well as Blurb.com. She spoke on this topic at the national convention of the Independent Book Publishers Assocation in 2012.
3. Storycatching. Dori has interviewed many people about their life stories and enjoys capturing these stories and putting them in print. Voices of the Second Wave contains 35 such stories. She has also captured stories from her husband, Paul Yang; from Yulin Rittenberg, a woman who endured China's Cultural Revolution; from two men who spoke their memoirs to her; and from the nine women she interviewed for Warm Cup of Wisdom. She and her husband also translated his father's memoirs about his life in China in the 1920s and 1930s and published it in English as Cocoons of Silk.
